Poetry / Land Of Lore (Analysis)

I once gazed up at the sky
and there a star fell into my eye
and before I knew it I was there
Could I believe it - could I dare?

A land was before me full and green
where nothing was as it should seem
for there in the meadow in this early morn-
I saw running towards me a unicorn!

I stood astounded and looked to my right
and there I saw a tremendous fright
I couldn't believe - I must've fell off the wagon
there to the right - was a wise ole dragon!!

I looked to the sky - low and behold-
I saw a phoenix made of gold
I blinked my eyes and she was gone
but in the distance I heard her song.

I felt a peace and felt at home
in this place where imaginations roams
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes-
Poof it was gone - before I could realize

Now theres not a day that doesn't go by
that I wont turn and look in the sky
and wish for that star to fall once more
and take me back to the land of lore.
