Poetry / Through the eyes of a Great Dane (Analysis)
Through the eyes of a Great Dane
I see the world as balls and bones
cookies and kisses
rope toys and stones
Through the eyes of a Great Dane
No one matters but that boy
he gives me everything i have to live for
happiness, joy
Because nothing in this life really matters so much
at the end of the day
your life can change quickly
the boys life can change too
and all that really matters is love.
Through the eyes of a great dane
I saw the truth.

Great Danes…the best dogs! I had two and they are so amazing. This is a unique perspective to write through a dogs eyes. I love how you added the element of the boy and how he is the center of it all, yet there is a fragility to life and the boy’s existence but strength in the bond that remains.
The only critique I would make is in the line “he gives me everything I have to live for” it is hard to explain how this line takes me from looking through the dogs eyes and makes me look through your eyes, but it does. I think because you begin the stanza with “Through the eyes….” it may be more consistent by saying “he gives him everything…”
Other than that it was a very interesting poem.

I really enjoyed this life is so simple for an animal… Their life is their owner and the few things they love and enjoy as opposed to humans lives which are complicated. I really love the last line indicating the dog has more of the right idea about life. Really cool poem.
