She Annoys Me
I have had quite enough,
much more than my fill,
of tempests in teapots,
and storming the hill
while bearing false witness
when I’m unaware
of what is occurring,
and how you do dare
to look at me sweetly,
and always pretend
because we’re connected-
I must be your friend.
I would like to take a moment to rail at the universe.
Look here, you big honking enormity- do you have to be so big that you make kids wet their pants in an effort to understand infinity?
Do you have to be so huge, and so simply complex that otherwise sane adults have been known to lose their minds in an effort to imagine your entirety?
And numbers- is it really necessary for them to go on indefinitely? I am willing to wager that the opposite direction- tiny, goes on ad infinitum, as well. And oh- black holes, bet you had a good laugh with that one.
Supernovas, ants, molecules, time, love, mildew, never, forever, something somewhere always evolving, and the ever-present abstract.
Like a brat you just never know when to quit.
And you know I love you.
