Poetry / Different Halls (Analysis)
No matter what I’d say
Or what I’d do
I just couldn’t
Get through to you
You’d say you understand
How I feel
But you don’t even understand
This is real
I begged to move
Away from that school
Where the teachers ignored
Words and actions cruel
Just because with a smile
It was disguised
The malice hidden
Except in the eyes
Always the eyes
And sometimes the tone
Of a voice that later
Would chill to the bone
But you never listened
You’d just assume
I was going to Mom
And leaving you
I kept trying because
Your support I craved
But you always hung back
Then you’d walk away
Now we focus on
To whom blame falls
But I only wanted
Different halls
Different classrooms
Other classmates
To just be normal
And not feel hate
Simple requests
Or so it seems
But all I got
Was different dreams
And you shake your head
Cause it’s such a shame
Still hanging back and
Denying all blame
