Poetry / Hush
Hush my child
and dream a sweet dream
a dream of brighter tomorrows
a life that’s live on time not borrowed
close those eyes and drift away
like a raft at sea
where the waters is quiet
and all you have is me
dream of nights cool and calm
when the darkest part of your day
is at dawn.
Just hush my child
and dream a dream where you can be free
to explore the unknown
and have the blessing to know and not have to see
dream a sweet dream where no wrong can be done
where your faintest worry is wiped away
because you know you’re loved
Just hush my child
and dream that sweet dream

feels like a lullaby.
Theres not much I can find wrong with the poem or much that I can comment on, but this poem is sweet! You set for the reader a whole different world.
One thing that caught my eye, maybe I’m reading too much into this, was “and all you have is me”. Maybe because I’ve spent the last 3 hours reading for my psych class, but I see something deeper in that. At first it just sounded sweet, but after a few times, it sounded like a very protective, aggressive love.
Great poem. It’s soooooooothing.
