Buddy Boy: “I used to be cool.” (Throws down hat, hat hair revealed.)
“I used to be hot.” (Throws down glasses to reveal sweet and troubled eyes.)
“Now I’m warming up,” (Walks over to window.)
“to someone I’m not.” (Gazes at dusk sky.)
“I try to stay cold,” (slams window shut) “to old-fashioned feelings” (turns back to window)
“That I. Still. Hate.” (Jumps up to sit on windowsill.)
“But wait, she’s real, and isn’t she all I need?” (Gazes into space.)
Jack (drunkenly): “You need sex!” (BB snaps out of it.)
BB: “You bet! (grins, then looks thoughtful) But what comes next?”
King (incredulously): “What comes next?! Buddy Boy, it’s a game!”
BB: “It’s a shame, she’s a dame…”
King: “She’s a toy!”
Buddy Boy slaps King. Room is silent. Buddy Boy appears shocked at what he has done, even more so than King himself.
King: “Buddy Boy…”
King’s disbelief turns to a cold, hard anger, and he advances on Buddy Boy with each word.
King: “Have some fun, then you’re done. When the sun rises, RUN!”
BB: “No!”
King (hisses): “Yes.”
BB: “Why, can’t I change?”
King: “Why, ..... change?”
BB (desperately): “Let me be an asshole!”
King (almost maniacally): “Set yourself free!”
BB: “From this happy, sappy, old-fashioned, passionate meeeeeee!”
King: “From this happy, sappy, old-fashioned, passionate meeeeeee!”
