Religion
tell me what
it is to you
God?
For religion is not
God
a church, a synagogue, a temple
is not God
Catholic, Jewish, Muslim
is not God
take a step
onto your cold
tiled bathroom floor,
switch on the
fluorescent light,
and gaze into the
spotted mirror
look into your eyes,
your soul and
eventually you will
find God
This being doesn’t
live in a building
or constrained in
a group
God lives inside
the beating heart
God lives where
you wish him to
live
Religion
causes hatred
battles
confusion
suicide
when the prayers
are not answered
or when the child
realizes his homosexuality
and that hell is
where he shall burn
Religion
is foolish
hatred
pure evil
take my child
not to
a church, a synagogue, a temple
teach my child
not
Catholic, Jewish, Muslim
teach my child
love
understanding
joy
in the little breath
we are given
in the tree covered
areas to lay
about in
and teach my child
God is not in
the church, the synagogue, the temple
God is
where you need him
to be…
