Short Story / Bird and the Gang and Why PJ Harvey should play for the LA Lakers

This may or may not have happened, I aint saying! It may be partly made up, part of it may have been a dream, and all of it may be a lie, but I aint gonna say!!

Sat in a bar (at the bar), watching the basketball, having a pint was I. To my right is a friend, lets call him Frank, to my left is a stranger let’s call him Henry (as he looked like a Henry) no lets call him Hen (for he looked like a Hen). Anyway, the conversation was flowing between Frank and I when Hen butted in and said something about the price of chicken or chicken soup or something (I really didn’t hear what he did say). We then talked for a minute all about music and carried on watching the game. The LAkers were playing against The Suns and this was how the conversation begun…Hen started on about how “the game was never gonna be shown on a major station like Fox or ABC”, and that the players aren’t even professionals as they play the game today. And the reason why Hen?? Was “Because of their shorts” And “Their shorts are not short enough for all the reports that would be written if only they wore their shorts shorter”, And that’s why “they are never gonna be shown on a major channel with a major reporter” and that’s why the game “aint as popular as it used to be” because of their shorts and “it’s all in the shorts you see”. But back in the day when Bird and the Gang used to play, they all wore short shorts and the game was a hit, “but now they are missing because of their shorts”. I laughed at first but the more we had talked about the state of play, the more I could see about what he did say. We spoke about music and then about sport, and we flicked between the two with ease. Hen said he hated on PJ Harvey so I said “I think PJ Harvey is pretty cool” mainly for the reaction created but maybe because I think PJ Harvey is pretty cool. So Hen started ranting on PJ HArvey and that she “thinks she’s the Queen of England but only wears the crown”. And she “aint no Queen of England” and then Hen began to frown. ”She aint no Queen of England but she does wear the shorts”. And “She does wear the crown and she does wear the shorts” and “that’s why she should play for the LAkers” for the one and only thing that she has on the LAkers is that “PJ HArvey wears her shorts short” and I don’t know whether she’s ever played the sport but “maybe she should play for the LAkers”. What did he say? Is He saying that PJ HArvey should play for the LAkers? Did I hear you right Hen??? Did I hear you today? ”Did you just say that PJ Har…” But before I could ask as I looked at the screen I swear it was her on TV. She was up there on court and was on for the LAkers, shooting the hoops, how rare!! And for one night only she played for the LAkers, short shorts and all she was there!!!
