I got a bit lucky on this one, as I liked the sound but did not initially realize how apt “currency” was for “living”, as it implies movement, like a current. I believe someone here pointed that out to me. In the same way, “coin” is a static term that fits well with “dead”. Thanks for the review!

I like this quote.
Economic wisdom distilled to provide commentary about quality of life, even mortality itself. I’m particularly interested in how this insight applies to creativity, as an emergent process and a lifestyle.
With risk, and a measure of information, or perhaps fearlessness, the outcomes can be massively rewarding, or tragically ruinous, yet this step into the wilderness is necessary in order to identify ones own abilities. One uses the returns provided by risk-taking, positive and negative, tangible and intangible, to grow, understand ones self, understand others, basically to become a functioning piece of the ever-expanding organism that is humanity.
I think it’s great you acknowledge the difference between order and security. Security as an absolute stasis. I love it. Either referring to the fear that sparks the pursuit of such a stasis, or the actual physical deadzone that is created when things are secured beyond movement.
The list of applications of this keen insight could fill a book. Kudos sir.
Have you any familiarity with or interest in chaos theory?

A truly blunt and jolting quote. It connotes the inevitability of taking risks on one’s day to day life. Simple acts like crossing the street and traveling to work or school involves risks in itself. No matter how many precautions one takes freak accidents are bound to happen. A speeding car or a stray bullet can end one’s life then and there no matter how many precautions one takes.
I find this quote to be quite powerful because it challenges us to take risks head on. Of course it’s not bad to be always cautious, however, it should be done with discernment. People who are too cautious tend to miss out on much of what life has to offer. Not only is it provocative but it is logical as well since inanimate things are incapable of taking risks since they can do nothing else than stay where they are and let time take its course. An excellent work!
I think that some people may misinterpret this and say, “Aren’t you more likely to die if you risk your life?” But I think that I know what you are saying. “Live life to the fullest, because you can’t take it with you.” This quote gives that old saying a fresh twist. :)
Interesting way of thinking of things, making currency out of life factors, but the exchange rate is a one way street and with no returns, for once you take the coin of the dead you’re a gonner. Though if you mean that people who have security in life are the living dead, it’s a bit pessimistic at best.
‘Marvelous quote you’ve coined (ewww… sorry), and on so many levels, too, given recent news of spy coins and such.
sounds like a proverb already!
Would it help to change coin to a word such as remuneration?
excellent point, you gotta take risks
great wit here… risk is a currency in todays world.. and if thats the case then security is the coin of the dead.. you couldn’t be more secure when you’re dead and gone, no worries.
it’s like saying.. ‘i have no money worries because i have no money.’ :) which on the face of it is very true.
well thought out.

What is life without the risk?.. it is death. You could’ve been killed in a car accident on the day your parents first took you home from the hospital or in a bus on your first ride to school. So if you’ve made it this far why not take some risks. If you die trying, atleast you died trying to live.
