Journalism / Slices
have read somewhere that compared to previous generations ours didn’t do much to the human kind progress, that we are the TV generation parasites; fruit of a baby boom messed up cohort.
I couldn’t disagree more, under our years google was born, you tube came along, electronic music started ruling and we are certainly the ones with more environmental concerns.
Said that, we also witness the technology control over our lives: we are slaves of our mobiles, computers direct our days and last but not least we are the ones that saw the beginning of Slices. Slices is the first DVD magazine: founded with a limited budget this periodical, without any advertising support and subsisting with the help of a sponsor, dedicates every minute of its edition to electronic music. If none of this is enough enticement, it is free of charge. Hence do not expect high quality video techniques or effects, the quality it’s definitely on the content.
A quarterly magazine that focus on artists and labels dominating the electronic music scene, started also a documentary series on pioneers of this music style and the first one featured is none other than Mr Ritchie Hawtin aka Plastikman. We are taken in a trip thru his twenty years in the industry, from his first steps in Detroit to the influence played by Jeff Mills and others in his repertoire. Contributing to the quality of this “film” are his family and friends. Names like Sven Vath, John Aquaviva and others narrate the importance that Hawtin had in the Techno movement, being placed in Techno history side by side with 430 West, Kenny Larkin among others.
Suggestion: watch the magazine trailer in youtube (belio magazine/slices) and since unfortunately this innovative DVD is not available in Dubai, you can make your own order at slices@myspace.com (at an approximately cost of AED 40, a bargain by Dubai standards).

You make some good points in the first two paragraphs. Of course, it is too soon to make a judgement on this generation. You might want to include that in your piece. This generation is just at the beginning of its influence.
The magazine is a unique idea and writing about it here will certainly drive some readership to it.
Good work.
