Valley Boy
Wasted years with an empty mind
School days finished, gates closed behind
Thatcher stole my youthful dreams
With shut down pits and government schemes
Tears and fears in the valley boys head
He packed his bags the home towns dead…
It’s goodbye ghost town, hey big city
Gotta get out, gotta break away free
Goodbye ghost town, hey big city
Valley boys chasing after his dreams…
Beggars in the subways and busy street corners
Abused and accused young juvenile loners
Sharing a room on a working girls line
With the pimps, rent boys and other mixed kinds
Needles and pills in the valley boys veins
Fighting harder, harder, to stay sane…
On a cold park bench in the winter time
Valley boys found a mountain to climb
Take me home to the place of old
London towns not paved with gold
The concrete jungle is no fun
Just a lesson learnt and a battle won
He cried…
It’s hello home town, bye big city
Good to be back, you look so pretty
Valley boys found his dreams at last
Mountains covered in green, green grass.

Theme: There’s no place like home!
Just like in “The Wizard of Oz” the Valley boy has a hard time coping with the different lifestyle in the big city. Your usage of rhyme and meter work here and keeps the reader going to see what happens next. This is like a story with a moral. Good work!
