Poetry / Lement for America

Lement for America,
and for all it stood for.
The peace and freedom it once had,
crucified by it’s own desires and devices.
Perhaps it is a sign,
that nothing pure can last,
and every age of peace,
no matter how perfect,
can be undone by the simple fact that we are all human,
All of us imperfect.
A country, the united states, once free and immaculate,
twisted and disfigured by greed and power from the inside out,
like some horrible virus.
The ones that fight to stay alive,
those who still have the revolutionary spirit,
are laughed at for wanting to return to what cannot be brought back.
The finger, an underated gesture,
When you point one out, you recieve more back at you.
Perhaps in the future we will find our way,
they way back on the path of peace and feedom,
But one thing is for certain,
The people need to stand, we need to make the change,
It’s our country, we’re all to blame.

I like the emotions in this. It’s the kind of thing that could be a poem, a blog, etc.  You did a nice job of balancing the depressing truth with your ultimately uplifting message. I love the last line.

Though, sweetheart, it’s spelled “Lament”.
