Poetry / Stand Beside Me And Fight
I refuse to give up
I refuse to back down
I’m gonna fight for our love
We can win, there’s no doubt
So please don’t get scared now
Don’t walk away
Stand beside me and fight
It’ll get easier with each day
I promise to fight till I die
I’ll fight for you and me
I promise not to give up
Till we can live our lives free
So please don’t get scared now
Don’t walk away
Stand beside me and fight
We’ll take it day by day
Don’t walk away from this
Don’t walk away from our love
I don’t think you realize it but
Love is something we have a lot of
So please don’t get scared now
Don’t walk away
Stand beside me and fight
And everything will be okay
I know you think it’s wrong
But it feels so right
So don’t walk away
Stand beside me and fight.

I’m imagining the classic Romeo and Juliet story. Blech…that story was a tragedy. Teenagers die from poison and knives over an infatuation, a rebound.
Cool it Romeo, your Juliet doesn’t want to go. No offence, but there is no emotion here, no imagery, no metaphors, no similes, very bland and boring.
If you truly feel for this girl you should add some graphic details. How it hurts, how it looks…what is this love? It seems that you may like her, but you don’t seem like a fighter in this poem.
Show it I can’t read your mind.

The repetition of lines and words would be great if the language and sentiment wasn’t so common place.
