Lyrics / it's a lush life

Still life, hot chai tea
Just the trick when
Things get to be

A little too hectic
Way too fast
Slow down… give it up
Soak it away, in a
Nice, warm, LUSH! bath

Quiet, sinking
gotta chill, need a happy pill
get to thinking
things are swell
chill out, give it up
Soak it away in a
nice, warm LUSH! bath

I like late nights
Party girl.. “look at me Feeling so Alright”
A litle outrageous.. too much
Sleep it off, soak it away in a
Nice, warm LUSH! bath

Don’t feel pretty… not too perfect
need to love me…
Big date need some sexy
Karma makes me smell real… unreal
strawberries, whipped cream in my hair
(if you know what i mean??)

If you don’t you must really need
the thrill of the LUSH appeal of a
great.. big.. long.. hot, steamy affair

with a
LUSH! bath..

Ok, so maybe it was a mistake to read this song after just going over one of yours that was brilliant. This is just to sappy, happy, jingley (is that a word?) to me.  You are so strong when you are real, speaking of the heart, making yourself vulnerable. Sure, snappy goofy songs like this can often turn into a hit, but they usually are the one-hit wonders that are forgotten all too soon. Don’t get me wrong, “Splish, Splash, I Was Taking A Bath” by Bobby Darin, may have been a happy bouncy little number but the lyrics/rhyming were spot on and so us old folks can remember it to this day. Just don’t see that here. I’m sorry.

not sure if i really like this as a piece of writing (i haven’t listened to the song yet), it smacks of bubblegum-pop (unless of course that is the intention). You would have benefited from losing the word ‘lush’ (i know that it’s the concurrent theme) but it seems to jar the rythm (as it’s read). I know this sounds very critical but i think that’s better than me telling you ‘it’s amazing’.

best regards and let me know if you revise it.

I read this as spoken word, with sound coming from it.  that’s a good thing.

I don’t like the 2 or @ symbols.

If wikipedia ever has a “text messaging poetry” section, I’ll probably kill myself.

As a reader, I’d beg you to spell.

I like it, the words have a natural rhythm all their own and I can almost imagine how the music will sound complimenting them.

At first I was concerned because it seemed too straight forward- almost like an advertisement. However by the end you had given the words a deeper meaning. Maybe if you could somehow work that into the begining in order to entice people to listen further on?

Nit Pics
“Nice, warm” Please cut one of these words from 3rd verse, for better flow.
I don’t care for the “2” or the “u”. This is literature, not email. I’m going to skip some other items here.

Big Pic
I’m trying to imagine the music that would serve this. The meter seems too inconsistent to make a harmonious piece. Where is the form? Shouldn’t lyrics rhyme?

Yeah, this is king of fun and light hearted,  I would imagine it being sung by an 18 year old but looking younger pretend hippy chick with an acoustic guitar which would appeal to 14 year old girls.

If I had a 14 year old daughter I would be happy for her to listen to this.

I’m sure they will publish this in ‘Lush Times’

you should draw a picture to go with it.

This made me laugh (in a good way) because it’s such an unexpected topic. If you want to submit it anywhere, I would take a look at the spelling. But these are definitely fun lyrics. Good luck!

Splish splash I was taken by the bath.
Fun and bouncy like a SKA song. It was refreshing, I get tired of hearing cookie monster rock
