Dear Cunts On Sticks and Dicks In Donuts, Peddlers Of Piss Poor Poetry In The Free World, Sickos, Whackos, Up-Chuck Whores, Bushites, Godwipes, Teenage Ragists, Sexists, Racists, Lovers Of War, Plebs, Boneheads, Bigots and New World Order Gun Toting Bores, Two Home Owning, Gas Price Moaning, Eco Thick, Cherry Pie Hicks, Star Fucking, Tinsel Toadying Twats-

I am British (Welsh) European, a left wing, non-smoking, teetotal, anti-drugs, animal loving, secular, pacifist, republican (ie non-royalist), occasionally French speaking, Poet in the English mother tongue. I was nurtured in a working class family of Welsh coal miners, educated on ‘merit’ to a very high degree. IQ 142.
I am gay and have been in the same monogamous gay relationship with my ‘half-American of South Pacific Descent’ partner for 21yrs. I was formerly married for 14yrs. I have three grown up daughters, and eight grandchildren, four boys and four girls, the eldest of which are 16 and 15 respectively, and of mixed race with high IQ’s.
I have close friends who live in LA Beverly Hills San Diego La Jolla New York and Michigan. They visit us. We visit them. It’s highly informative. These Americans and American residents range from mighty rich to relatively poor, from world famous to anonymous, they include writers, jazz musicians and rock royalty. I have lived and worked outside my country and I am very widely travelled- it helps to have a passport.(Less than 50% of Americans who could have one, don’t have one. Less than 50% of your electorate who could vote, don’t. You could build a case for apathy from this foundation alone.)
I have an agent going and another coming because I am intersted in publishing. I have directed theatre and had my plays performed. I have toured my Poetry one man shows. I collaborate with composers to pen popular songs. I am preparing a novel in response to a request from New York. My fiction has appeared in online journals devoted to subversive literature. No-one could ever describe me as a mainstream, establishment orientated writer. Maverick and avant garde maybe. Obscure? It’s just not the case- unless you never made it to college or only have English as a second language. Besides all this biographical info and the works I have publicly posted for you to digest in public- the work being the greatest insight tool you’ll ever have into me, you know nothing more. Certainly not enough to witlessly castigate me for.
I’ve got a broad back and I am confident that I am loved and deeply appreciated, even if you don’t feel that or have any shred of respect for me or what I produce. I don’t expect everyone who goes into a bookshop to buy MY stuff. What I do may not be to your taste- but that’s a given. And if you don’t understand my work then be at least challenged by it- there’s no shame in not understanding, but there is great shame in not having the balls to raise your bar to a greater level of understanding.
I have never pretended to be at an elite pinnacle, I strive daily and there has always been a slope to test me for the 42 years I have been writing. I count myself extremely fortunate that at the age of 57 I can now devote myself to writing full time. It takes a deal of time and a lot of talent to cook a Poet. Your ill judged personal attacks suggest a profound psychosis in the maw of the active contributors to the ‘POETRY’ site. Out of a membership of approx. K55 you would have thought that some semblance of a balanced and unblinkered response would have prevailed. The site is clearly deeply flawed if it cannot share that fundamental fairness. It has been high-jacked by hobbyists who want to hang the rags of their romances in public. How feeble and needy of you to witter away so self indulgently while life and knowledge slides by you. Your vision of yourselves and of your country and its international reputation is shockingly out of kilter with the truth.
Most of you should be deeply ashamed of letting your unbridled prejudices make you rush to judgement- it is a regrettable and childish folly. Eight years, almost, of a lie based, pseudo-christian right wing, red-necked, bigot ridden GW Bush administration, whose foreign policy is frankly no more than personal vendetta, should have taught you that. But, you are not in the frame of mind to learn anything, because you seem to be saying you know it all. Well, you have nailed the Old Glory of your glaring stupidity to the mast so you have no-one to blame but yourselves. Objectivity- look it up. And God bless America, though God is late, and his love is so overrated, especially re- 9/11, New Orleans, Iraq, the USSS Aircraft Carrier Israel, and Borat.
