I escaped the physical for a breathless moment
I floated effortlessly in a cocoon of
Love, Peace, and Contentment
an effortless state of being, cleansed and bright

I saw the great constellation that is my life
a quiet serenity of spirit,
interwoven with purity and light
Soul and Spirit re-united in serene certainty

I was given a glimpse through this ethereal veil
It was offered freely with absolution
To Be or Not To Be, the age old question
an Angel’s voice whispered, was not a solution

To do so meant letting go
of those who’s lives I’ve interwoven into my own
each loved one sewn to me
with the silver thread that binds our souls

I could not release my connection to this world
I could not let go of the loves that make me whole
I chose to return to learn more of this world
to love more, and express my joy in doing so

The fight was long and my body was weak
but my mind had seen the great unknown
I would not acknowledge the lie of defeat

I have been given a second chance
to love deeper and without reserve
to express joy more spontaneously
and to laugh and dance with abandonment

This life is not a random process
we are not meant to float comfortably in nothingness
we are the rhythms of nature and spirit combined
within us are the vibrations and pulse of life
and all the universe flows through us
