It makes sense. The image that this counjures up for me is saying good bye to a lover or a loved one. Obviously someon who has been let down by many people in the past. The fact that you state that its “Rare” when “we do not” ame me feel somewhat lonely. it conjures up images of lonelyness and abandonment. It seems like this is for someone who doesn’t want to get close to people due to the fact that you could get hurt and that notion is supported at the times that “we do not” want to say goodbye.
Overall, I think it is very good quote. Strong notions and evokes a feeling of loneliness, abandonment and isolation.

I think your title throws off the reader more than the actual quote. Your title suggests that your main idea is the importance of parting ways and how the more you say goodbye the more you become cold to the sadness, but your actual quote is commenting on the emotions revolving around saying goodbye, not necessarily the effect of saying it often. You need to clarify your title. Leave the actual quote as it is. The quote can stand without a title. It’s too short for a shorter explanation and that’s what titles do.

I guess that it depends on who we say goodbye to. The inlaws or work couldn’t leave fast enough, but for those lost loved ones never wanted too. Just hit me in a weak spot.
