Novel Treatments / My Ghost Guardian (Chapter 2)

Two weeks.  It has been two weeks since I made a deal with that sarcastic Grim Reaper, also known as Anubis.  In that two weeks I’ve learned a lot.  Such as I’m still in Crystal Bay and Eliza is going to my former high school. Another thing, I diddn’t drop out I graduate from high school, that’s what I mean when I say former.  It has been seventeen years since that night in the parking lot.  The cops caught only the driver of the car.  Oh and Jaheim, the looser who was in trouble with the gang that was suppose to get shot, he paid his debt that Friday.   I swear I am not enjoying this  irony crap.  Still it’s not to bad.  I mean Eliza is pretty cute.  She’s kind of like me though, I mean at first look you probably call her a punk rock chick.  Seriously her hair is usually a different color every month and a good lot of her clothes are black.  Although, like me,  if you were to see who she hangs out with at school she really doesn’t belong to a group.  She will dress punk, but she really don’t hang out with the other gothic kids.  If anything she has a little group of friends who are like the best part of the clicks.
Another thing I learned was that this girl is injury prone.  She nearly fell down the stairs at her house, was about to be hit by the school bus, and then there was the stapler!  I’m not joking this girl has me so jumpy that if I get into heaven, I’m going the only angle up there with a twitch.  Worse yet next week in gym she’ll be playing dodge ball!
“Class we have a transfer student with us,” Mr. Delavega announced.  Mr. Delavega was my old history teacher and he hasn’t changed a bit.  He’s still boring and he still creeps me out.  Although he’s good, if you can stay awake you’ll pass his class, “This is Miss Missy Fortune.”
I’ll never forget seeing her for the first time.  She came in that day with her long flowing black hair and her silky red mini skirt and top.  I even remember she had two hair clips in her head that oddly seamed to be pointing upward.  She sat to the right of Eliza and smiled a smile that sent a shiver up and down my nonexistent spine.  In the middle of class I heard this loud thud sound.  It was Missy, her book had fallen from her desk, just out of her reach.  Eliza, being the good girl she is, picked up the book and handed it to Missy.  Something was wrong.  Most of the time I can’t see or speak to Guardian Angles unless Eliza is interacting with someone.  Most of the time they turn their nose and shun me.  Obviously doing deals with the reaper is enough to be shunned by winged folk, but when Eliza smiled at Missy I couldn’t see anything.
“Thank you,” Missy said with a smile.
“Wow you read Poe’s works too,” Eliza whispered.
“Oh yes, I love how his characters all have little defaults that later bring forth their down fall.”
“Hey you know what,” Eliza said filling with joy, “how about I show you to your next class, we can talk some more.”
“Sure,” Missy said as her eyes rising up, as if looking at me.
I was so glad when school was over.  It was the end of another successful day.  All Eliza had to do was get on the bus and ride home.  Just as the wind changed direction a loud cry came from the left of me, “Get out the way!”
Riding on his skateboard was Izzy.  Izzy is a crazy little Asian boy who in Japan might have girls all over him.  Although since this is Crystal Bay High School, unless you have a jacket with a “C and B” on it, you get what you can.  Just the same Izzy’s angle, is something.  I heard one of the other angles call her Gabriela.  She was so beautiful that worlds like ravishing and dazalling failed to describe.  Of course she too had been ignoring me, which was why it was such a big deal when she looked at me with those steel brown eyes and spoke with a voice so sweet it could make babies smile, “Poltergeist, we need to talk.”
Just like when I was alive, my mouth has cost me woman, which is why it was no surprise that the first thing out my mouth was, “Actually poltergeist are usually girls who have been sent through a traumatic event.”
She just stared at me after I said that, like I was crazy.  Like I said, these two weeks I’ve learned a lot when it comes to being a ghost.  Although I give my big toe to redo that parrt of my after life.  Rolling her eyes she continued, “I’m only talking to you as a favor to a really good friend.”
“You mean,” I started as I pointed my finger upwards.
“Him? Oh no,” She said with a laugh, “Lisa Lopez just saw you down here and thought you might want to know a few things.”
“Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez,” I said dumb founded.
“Yeah.  She’s up there, got in by the skin of her teeth but she’s up there.  Look you should just know that because you are not an angle you lack a halo,” she said.  Gabriela was odd in the since she wore her halo like a head band.  Taking it off she continued, “These things are more then just a fashion item.  A halo wards off most demons, but since you lack one, Eliza is bombarded with threats most of her class mates may never know of.  Let me guess she’s injury prone, like to a whole new level right.”
With everything she said, it blew my mine, so like a good lap dog I simply nodded.  With that she continued her explanation, “Unlike me though, a halo stops angles from possessing people and physically aiding them.  Look you are not the first to play Anubis’s game.  It’s a game designed so that you loose if you follow the traditional rules of the game.  You have to think outside of the box.  To you this maybe some game, but Eliza is a sweet girl who can change the world, if you can keep her alive.”
Before I could correct her on how I was serious about protecting Eliza, Izzy walked off.  Shrugging it off I went back to scouting the area, good thing because at that moment one of the blue outdoor tables was flying right for Eliza.  I didn’t know how it got in the air, but what mattered was getting Eliza out of the way.  Out of the two weeks, I had learned a lot but I had only one of my ghost powers.    Snapping my fingers Eliza heard it.  Turning her head to see where the sound came from the table slid right across her face, almost touching her cheek as it sailed by.  Passing Eliza the table crashed into a nearby bike stand, totaling all the bikes that were there.
“Are you ok,” Shouted a voice.  Turning my head in the direction the table had came from we spotted Missy as well a few other kids.
“Yeah…. I’m…good,” Eliza said, still not sure what had happen.
“Wow,” Missy said once again looking pass Eliza and in my direction, “It would have been misfortunate if that had hit you.”
“Do you know what happen,” Eliza said as the shock finally hit her.
“No.  I just saw the table in the air, and it was aimed for you,” Missy spoke with a concern look on her face as fake Ashley Simpson’s singing career, “Then you moved at the last second and dodged it.”
Shaking her head, Eliza heard the roar of the busses starting.  With that she said her goodbyes and ran off for the bus.  That was the end, the end to my easy weeks of watching over Eliza.  Because like any other game, now that all the players had arrived the game would soon begin and I was already loosing.  For as I got on the buss with Eliza I checked my left arm and just like all the other times I had gotten Eliza’s attention by using my powers an ugly black line appeared, just below the other three.

i like where this is going, very interesting how angels look down on ghost. “For”(the for seem to be out of context) as I got on the buss with Eliza I checked my left arm and just like all the other times I had gotten Eliza’s attention by using my powers an ugly black line appeared, just below the other three. other then that it seem like a really good chapter.
