Query Letter / Sustainability
Here’s the bio:
He is a Futurist, Ethicist, consultant, educator, author, and triathalete. He homesteaded as Thoreau did. He’s driven horses and turbocharged tractors; built wind, water, solar and geothermal engines; farmed 40 to 500,000 acres. He helped establish the first Organically Grown codes.
Clients include Fortune 100, pro athletes, financial services, engineering firms, individuals, non-profits, and health and fitness professionals.
So that’s under 60 words. Does it establish my credentials?
Alas! I so like this line:
He consults gentleman farmers.
But I can’t use it, now can I?
Here’s some words and phrases I’m considering:
spiritual endeavor… Self sufficiency… personal integrity… inner guidance.
The Siren Song of modern life is much ado about nothing. In what passes for civilization, what is our highest technical accomplishment: Duck tape?
Extraterrestrial visitors would be more interested in our Art than our polluting and wasteful technology.
Here’s the essay so far. It’s too long, but I’ll fix it once I have the rest:
I am intrigued by Hopi tradition and ceremonies that recall 150 millennia.
We live in their Fourth World; the earlier versions destroyed by natural disaster, caused by:
1.Too much evil in the world. I’m not sure what the Hopi define as evil. I’ll hazard two aspects: Self-centeredness and continuing destructive actions.
2. Our lack of a sense of proportion. This to me is key. If we had this sense, we might sort out the importances of air fresheners in autos that produce poison gas.
