Poetry / Day Job Laureate
Day job Laureate
Thoughts of the day
Mission statements
Quote me a price
How many can I get
That’s the gig
For a day job laureate
I drive the freeways
Just like you
I’ve drank too much
Like some people do
The cash I make
Still ain’t enough yet
I hear ya man
I’m a day job laureate
I wish I could contemplate
The moon in June
Have so much money
Don’t know what to do
Ain’t got it that good
I keep clockin in
Earn what I get
That’s ‘cuz
I’m a day job laureate
I’m the butcher
Baker
Skyscraper Maker
Lawyer
Salesmen
Early bus taker
Not quite a distinction
More of a state
Yes, this is my life
The day job laureate

I really enjoyed this piece. I’m not a big fan of rhyming but this worked for me. I loved the smooth rhythm of the piece. I loved the imagery. This read very, very well. Good write.

I really enjoyed this poem, and felt that the word plays and rhythm were excellent in this piece. I love the last stanza where you relate to large groups of people, and give this a global feel. An excellent read and very good work overall.
