LET FREEDOM RING!

JANUARY 15, 1929
IN ALANTA, GEORGIA
EVERYTHING WAS JUST FINE,
HE WAS BORN
TO ALBERTA AND MARTIN,
GIFTED WITH THE LIFE
THE LIFE THAT HE START

AND AT 15
HE WENT STRAIGHT TO COLLEGE,
1948 HE WAS ORDAINED
HE GRADUATED THAT YEAR YES AROUND THE SAME,
HE GOT FROM PENNSYLVANIA
DIVINITY DEGREE,
HE WENT TO BOSTON
AND GOT HIS PHD.

LET FREEDOM RING!

1955 IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA,
HE LED A BOYCOTT AGAINST
THE CITY BUS PANEL,
1956 U.S. SUPREME COURT
THEY INTEGRATED SEATS ON
THE PUBLIC TRANPORT,
57 THE S.C.L.C.
WITH OTHER BLACK MINISTERS
STRUGGLE TO BE FREE.
1963 THE S.C.L.C.
THEY ORGANIZED A MARCH ON
WASHINGTON DC,
NON-VIOLENCE
WENT HISTORICAL,
I HAVE A DREAM
AT THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL.

LET FREEDOM RING!

1964 VICTORY AMENDED,
KENNEDY AND JOHNSON
BOTH RECOMMENDED
STOP DISCRIMINATION
IN THE PUBLIC PLACES
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
THE SAME EDUCATION,
1964 HE WON THE
NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
VOTING RIGHTS IN 65,
CHICAGO CAMPAIGN IN 66
FAIR HOUSING
FOR US TO BENEFIT,
1967 POOR PEOPLE’S CAMPAIGN,
UNITE THE POOR PEOPLE
FROM THE ECONOMIC STRAIN.

LET FREEDOM RING!

THIS RAP DEDICATED
TO THE DR. KING
HAD A DREAM
TO LET THE FREEDOM RING
HE WENT TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP
HIGH ABOVE
TO MAKE IT RING
IN THE NAME OF LOVE.
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

AND THEN IT HAPPENED
IN THE STATE OF TENNESEE,
A SANITATION STRIKE
WAS IN THE PLACE TO BE,
APRIL 4, 1968
HE WAS SHOT AND KILLED
RIGHT AROUND THE WAY,
MY A DRIFTER, A KILLER
ESCAPE CONVICT,
TOOK THE LIFE OF
A GREAT PROPHET,
CONGRESS SOON PASSED
THE CIVIL RIGHTS FACT,
STOP DISCRIMINATION
IN THE HOUSING ACT,
NOW EVERY JANUARY
ON THE 3RD MONDAY
WE COUNT OUR BLESSINGS
AND CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY.

I understand that you are trying to tell the story of Dr. King’s life, but when reading this I felt that it came off as more of a biography than a set of lyrics. What may help is to have it not so packed full of dates and statistical facts, maybe pick one or two periods of his life that you want to focus on and get more in depth on those. Some great metaphorical things can be done with the power his life held over society and the lasting influence of his words. Hope this helps some! Great start.

I like the tone, but I saw some grammatical errors.  I don’t know if that is important here, so I won’t point them out specifically.  Also, when I read it, I felt a little detached.  I would suggest a way to bring listeners into the middle of it, so they feel that they have and/or could more of a connection.  Good work though, overall.

I think these lyrics have a lot of potential. You might want to work on re-wording in some parts, but is is still good. I like the message you are portraying.
