Novel Treatments / My Gaurdian Ghost Chapter 3

“Class we have another new student,” Mr. Delavega said one early Monday morning when HE showed up.  As soon as this scum bag came into the room he had every eye on him.  His spiky jet black hair and chiseled good looks had every girl drooling on themselves.  With his smooth sexy voice he shined those pearly whites and smiled.
“Ello,” He said with his strong Spanish accent booming, “My name is Van; I’m from Seville, Spain.”
Even Eliza couldn’t keep her eyes off Van.  It was as if he had some kind of hypnotic charm.  In fact as e went to his seat I swear the girls he passed actually swooned.  Although it seam this charm was also affecting him, because as soon as he sat down he pulled out a tiny pocket mirror and gave himself a quick look over.  As much as I disliked this pretty boy, the effect he had on Missy totally made my day.  Unlike all the girls Missy’s face was filled with anger.  It was like she was a cat and Van was holding her tail down.  Her clawing at her desk and clinched teeth warmed my nonexistent heart.
Mr. Delavega got the attention of the class, “As you know the Winter Formal will be a week from now.  So I’m going to pass out a sheet with the nominees on it.  Make sure to vote only once.”
The Winter Formal is a really fancy and cool excuse for a bunch of high school kids to stay after school.  Seriously the supervision is weak and the music is crazy.  Every year something happens.  Like my senior year the ceiling opened and water balloons rained down on the freshmen.  Yep, the best thing I ever did that I never got busted for.  After class I spotted Izzy.  He seamed a little nervous and I knew he was going to finally ask Eliza out when Van beat him to the punch.
“Vhat a beauty you are,” Van said as he ran his fingers through his hair, “I could hardly keep my eyes off you.”
Rolling my eyes I knew Eliza wouldn’t fall for this guy’s pathetic attempts at wooing.  Eliza blushed, “Well thanks.  You…you…are…so nice Van.”
“Vell how bout you allowing me the privilege of valking you to your next class,” Van said as he looked into Eliza’s eyes.
Like a drooling puppy Eliza simply muttered, “Sure.”
With that he glanced up, as if looking at me then made his way off Eliza.  A shiver ran down my spine worse then any I’d ever got from Missy.  It was at lunch when I finally got some answers from Gabriela.  Eliza was sitting with her friends and Izzy wasn’t to far from her.  It was the second time that beautiful angle spoke to me, “Look phantom we have a real problem.”
Smiling at how her marble brown eyes glared at me I muttered, “Yeah.”
“Listen, I thought you could handle yourself against one little half demon, but Anubis has gotten serious.”
Ok I love staring at good looking woman, but when my eternity is on the line I get a little focused, “What do you mean?”
“Missy,” Gabriela started, “please do tell me you knew she was half demon.  I mean her name, Missy Fortune.”
“What about it,” I asked.
“She’s the half demon endowed with the powers of misfortune.  Every unlucky thing Eliza does Missy is usually around and something always tries to kill her,” Gabriela said as she moved her hair out of her face.
“So if Missy is the half demon, but you just mentioned he’s getting serious.”
“Missy is a mere half demon who doesn’t even have her horns yet, but you now have a seasoned vet playing,” Gabriela said as a bead of sweat came from her forehead, “He’s one of the most dangerous demons out there, I wouldn’t want to fight him.  He’s one of the Seven Deadly Sins.”
“You wouldn’t be talking about the new kid,” I question already catching on.
“Van, try Vanity,” Gabriela informed, “I knew it the first time I saw him in third period.  He’s in love with himself and, hey what’s that on your arm?”
“These marks, I don’t know,” I admitted.
“Those are tallies,” Gabriela as she inspected my arm, “This is bad, you have three marks already.”
“So,” I asked as Eliza got up to go to the restroom.
“Craig you are teetering between two plains in the Christian afterlife.  Death’s powers come from ancient times and are more dark then light.  These marks represent the amount of times you’ve used his powers.  Craig, use those powers five times and your ‘balanced’ scale becomes unbalance.  Guess which way you are going after that.  This is bad because the dance is coming up and you need to be their.”
“Why,” I asked as my day was about to go from worse to horrid.
“I’m not supposed to really divulge this kind of information to someone like you, but you need to know how serious this dance is.  Eliza is going to kiss Izzy at this dance.  That kiss will inspire Izzy to write a book that will greatly help the world.  That is why I said she could change the world.  Her kiss will revolutionize the way people look at the world, religion, and more importantly each other.”
“Perfect, as long as we get her and Izzy to go to the dance together everything should go to plan,” I said with a smile, a smile that quickly melted as I spotted Eliza in the arms of Van.  Their lips were locked in a passionate embrace.
“See you at the dance,” Van said as his cold glance came our way.  Even so, with all the cards stacked against me, I knew that the hardest challenge was yet to come.  Even so I had a few tricks up my sleeve and a few I’d never knew about.
