        If I could spend an evening with anyone it would probably be Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter books. In my mind she seems like the perfect role model. She’s smart and not ashamed to show it. She has her values in place, and she doesn’t allow herself to break them. But aside from that she isn’t perfect. She makes mistakes, which I think is an inevitable part of life. In the books she is described as having frizzy uncontrollable hair, which shows to every girl who reads Harry Potter that you don’t have to be picture perfect to stand out. A role model shouldn’t be perfect in every aspect of life, in order to be a true role model you have to have flaws, and I think Hermione Granger represents that well.
        The first thing that I like about Hermione Granger is her smarts. She likes to study, and gets good grades on her tests. For most girls in society these days being smart isn’t a good thing, and I think that needs to change. Hermione is very refreshing to me, and I aspire to be like her. Not only is she smart, but she isn’t afraid to show it, which means she is comfortable with herself. She likes who she is, and won’t let other people tell her differently.
        Another thing that I like about Hermione is she has very strong values. Her friends, family and school come first. She has a great set of priorities and she always has them in place. Occasionally she might stumble upon a crush or two, but those are the things that make her human. I would want to spend an evening with Hermione Granger because, I’m not perfect, and neither is she, but that doesn’t mean that I couldn’t learn some very important things from her.
        As I have said before in order to be a good role model you must make mistakes sometimes. Not everything is always going to go your way, and Hermione knows that. She accepts that falling down is a part of life, but so is getting back up. Yes, she makes mistakes, but more importantly is she learns from them. Yes, she might fail at something, but that doesn’t mean she won’t try again, and again until she gets it right. If I could spend an evening with Hermione I think she would teach me a lot about perseverance. I think it is very important in life to keep trying even if you fail, and Hermione does just that.
        I think that over all Hermione Granger is a great role model. I think that all girls should look up to her for guidance and understanding when they are going through a rough patch in their life. She can teach you some very important things. She can teach you how to be your self, to have good strong goals and values, and to not be afraid to try something again. Sometimes Hermione Granger can seem so real and human that you forgot she’s just an image painted in your mind, but I think that’s what makes her so special. Because no matter where you go, she will always be there.
