I have been a writer for most of my life. I began writing poetry and short stories almost as soon as I could pick up a crayon. I love to write and have others read my work. I have published via the online venue for years now and am still looking for an offline agent/publisher to get my work out to more people. You can check out my books at lulu.com/micksmix

Foreword Not much has ever frightened me; I mean really frightened me. The one exception to that has always been vampires. I’m not quite sure why they frighten me; I just know that from a very early age I have always had a fear-like awe of them. Silly as it may sound now, I can remember that as a teenager, I always wore a glow-in-the-dark cross around my neck. I felt safer sleeping at night when I had my cross on. Of course it was slightly annoying to my sisters, who claimed it kept them awa...

Chapter One 1990 In the great master bedroom; as the lightning flashed and the thunder roared, a new life began. At the same instant the child was being handed to her mother, which was exactly as the grandfather clock in the hall was chiming the hour of midnight on October 31, 1990; a large raven flew in through the open window and perched on one of the posts of the large iron bed. "Raven," Rene’ Dawn murmured, looking first at the staring black bird, then down at the cocoa colored infant in ...

Dear Lord guide me through this life, I need your love to be, A guardian against all things, Which hurt and trouble me. Guard my children, keep them safe, help them come to know, That you are there when needed, In times of strife or woe. Watch o'er my home, help keep it free, from everything that's bad, Let everyone who enters know, the love that Jesus had; for all your children on this Earth, No matter what they'd done, And Lord, help me learn the patience, that was in him, your son. Lord, ...

I fell in love when I saw you, the right words just couldn't be found; I waited too long so I lost you, my fears kept holding me down. Someone was near or the timing not right, how I wish I could go back in time; to the night that we met, I would tell you, I love you and now you'd be mine. Foresight's the wisdom of sages, hindsight is my lot it seems; I waited too long so I lost you, now I only have you in my dreams.

this story is very well written and the imagery is very good. I think this is a wonderful children's story that will show the meaning of friendship, and the value of it.
Crime, Thrillers & Mystery / Scratch the Surface - Chapter 3
Good job of descriptive phrases. I can see how much Jeff cares for Leah and understand why she would be afraid of Adam. I would like to read the entire story so it would make more sense, but overall, good job.
I wish she could listen when tell her I was sorry (should be listen when I tell her I was sorry) Overall a good job. Would make a good short story as well.
