Penumbrapoet
(my working definition) \pə-ˈnəm-brə\ \ˈpô-ət noun: penumbra is the shadow cast when the sun and moon meet during an eclipse; light, dark and all the in-between; poet is a wordsmith, lover of language and expression, artist, creator… my pseudonym and alter ego lurking in the shadows, exposed by periodic light beams.
“If one word could describe my poetry, it’s intensity.
My writing reflects my existence,
An existence lived to the heights of fantasy,
In the depths of reality,
And in all the elevations of in-between.
I have lived life to the fullest extents
With my heart, mind, body, and soul.
My advice to others is to live just as fully
And never let your light burn out.”

My wallpaper is yellow
Like Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s.
Old tar and torn tape
From posters come and gone,
(like my heroes,)
Scar the walls of hearth.
I got chrysalis in my pores From hormonal wars.
How I’d stare at the plaster crackles and See all the faces of you!
The nails bent and taut,
A postcard from India,
A postcard from Rome…
Remind me of the places where I can’t be
While I’m behind these four walls.
Dust and webs gather.
Bodily smudges from long-lost fun… ...

I am not a big fan of rhyming poetry. I think the rhyme itself is limiting what this piece could be... and maybe that works in the sense of a romantic affair restricting the freedom of one's soul (but that's a stretch). The content and the messages I think are quite strong - the point taken that someone did quite a number on you.
This was utterly seductive and brings me close to fond memories of dancing with someone special. You lost me on the last line - I think you need a better ending - something with a sexy punch or smoldering metaphor. Overall, I enjoyed reading this.
