we are stuck in this mire
though the sun is shining and i long to run through the meadow chasing rabbits while i leave the thoughts that weigh me down lying fallow
breathe.
push.
move.
press on.
there is always hope.
there is always something to fear.
my life is like a movie. epic. strange. but that is a long story.
if you want to try to make me out:ITS MY HEAD

Waterfall It played on Singles just now. "Oh, I love this song." (says the Bridgette Fonda character. A classic example of the line in the song In Bloom: He's the one Who likes all our pretty songs And he likes to sing along And he likes to shoot his gun But he don't know what it means don't know what it means When I say He's the one Who likes all our pretty songs And he likes to sing along And he likes to shoot his gun But he knows not what it means knows not what it means ) I used...

I have been inspired. I never thought that would happen. I am the most cynical person I've ever know. Everything is changing. I'm even capitalizing. I'm not sure why, but maybe I was wrong and I'm trying different things. A lot of different things. Such as not hating people for their ignorance and hatred. Like this republican on MSNBC right now saying Sarah Palin is real, accessible. Sarah Palin was a self serving liar. Maybe the woman saying this is as well, and it suits her agenda to say it...

there is no point. only breathing, eating, finding shelter. somehow trapped in this close space, this asylum, wondering always if anyone at all is like her. no, not always, not anymore. that stopped years ago. an inconstant yearning, a foolish hope, running neck and neck with the hope that this need to breath, eat and find safety would be put to rest, finally. only fear and ineffectuality kept her breathing, as fear an ineffectuality kept her from wanting to. that pot of beans. "is it ok...

what is that tear, the one that sneaks out of one eye? the mouth didn't twist and the brow did not furrow. the lip didn't tremble. you look at this trite movie, trying to move you, but you go anyway. it doesn't take you to where it pointed so proudly and flamboyantly, with all the bromidic charm of a sit-com. just one tear. then it's gone. but these untruths are still there. that is the tear.

"Six Memos for the Next Millennium is a book based on a series of lectures written by Italo Calvino for the Charles Eliot Norton Lectures at Harvard, but never delivered as Calvino died before leaving Italy. The memos are lectures on the values of literature which Calvino felt were important for the coming millennium. At the time of his death Calvino had finished all but the last lecture. The values which Calvino highlights are: 1. Lightness 2. Quickness 3. Exactitude 4. Visibility 5. M...

i liked it all very much except for the first verse. "Through bushes and brambles of political mumbles" didn't work for me. the song is about a broken heart, so it didn't seem to fit. maybe the mandolin could fall through a tangle of emotional turmoil of some sort. i didn't like the word brazenly. that might just be me, i had a nun in fourth grade who used to scream at us that we were brazen little brats, as well as being vile and impudent. still, i think something else could work better. i h...
very good story. gripping, and it had me all the way through but for two small points. i felt the line "exhaling fetid breath" was a bit hackneyed. it would have worked better for me without that line, or maybe better, just exhaling and leave it there. that would have been more powerful. was Aunty Em supposed to be reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz? i found that connection to be distracting from the story. "all that remains is the tail of the monster" was a wonderful way to describe how these t...
i thought the writing style suited the piece. i am a fan of styles that are different. this was a good way to express these types of thoughts. as to my conclusion on the topic, i think the standard is whether you are happy, not how society, which is comprised mostly of conformists, views you. but i know sometimes that happiness comes at too high a price. there is the downside, isn't there? we who do not wish to conform must find our own place, and that sometimes seems an impossible task.
