That was pretty good. Nice wrap up with the "except Asians," line at the end. Funny thing is I'm not sure we're that far away from some bigoted extremist getting a movement together to fight their own discrimination. Maybe we're already there. THe BUBBA acronym got a chuckle out of me. THere's also a clever underside to all this. Most of us good liberal minded people who rail against someone not geting a job because their black would not hesitate to fire someone because of what they believe ...
Indeed we use anti viral software and downloads like flu shots now. Nice job of capturing that parallel between flesh and machine. At least that's part of what I got out of it. As well as being a nice little cautionary tale in verse and rhyme. I liked the 2nd stanza better. Thought it flowed and seemed just a little less forced and rang more true. But the whole is still good.

I can't offer you any quickfire consolation. I can only say that I feel for you and on some level can relate. I'm not in a good place physically or mentally. I moved psysically a few months ago and that with a job change and other extraneous stuff I won't bore anyone with are piling on to make me feel more lost and disconsolate mentally than i have for a very long time. I don't have separation from kids to add so I can't relate to that and can only imagine the pain for a mother going through...
I'm backtracking over your past work after being drawn in by something I reviewed of yours more recently. It's all holding up real well. Your facility for a characters voice is great. You have these guys nailed down. The banter is witty and realistically so. I love these terms you coin like mangina and gaygiene. The gaythin post made me laugh quite a bit. You're not only funny but these guys are really evocative of real people I've known. Loved the fatsuit and sugar stuff from that post and ...
And here I was thinking you were a National Public Radio kind of gal. Although I guess none of this precludes you from listening to NPR as well as being pantless in cars. The latter is certainly more fun. I'm guessing. I have been pantless listening to NPR though and I got to say the whole experience was decidedly not worth writing about. I got so into your story I forgot it was leading to a nickname explanation. Props for that. For a great review of where names come from and how they are ch...
Crime, Thrillers & Mystery / Where did it all go wrong?(black comedy)
Well you certainly get right into it. That's not a bad thing but for me I like some buildup and more characer identification. Unless this is that cold open leading into more patient treatment of the main characters. Still there were a few people introduced in a few paragraphs and I wasn't sure who was the main character. reading through again I take it's Boris? Sentences like "When his cell mate had been paroled a month before Boris and decided off his own bat to take over his business in th...
Realy enjoyed that. Both for the content and the writing acumen. And it doesn't necessarily feel like something written by someone so young. THis is something that could have been written by anyone of any age. Although not by anyone because the writing is better than most. On the content: I remember growing up and feeling like small talk and most of what people said to each other was inane and empty. When I talked I wanted it to count. I wanted to have something to say. As I got older I beca...
Though not by rule a reader of sexual oriented stuff, and in fact someone who doesn't even want it thrown into regular fiction, I do however appreciate a twisted and somewhat satirical piece like this. It's pretty cynical. It makes me think of people and their lusts like they're creatures on The Discovery Channel. So being a pretty cynical person who has a conflicted view of all this sexual business I thought this was an amusing read. You do a good job of being descriptive and doing so in suc...
4 Meters? Hell with that I want a Starbucks cafe in my kitchen. Everyone should have one. With free wireless access and adorable young people who know how to combine nonsens words into a common kind of drink name. THis is my dream. I only wish that I was a teenager again in these heady times so I can get pregnant too. That and a woman. Mama drama and baby daddies are so chic it's almost fascist that I'm not involved in any. And to be able to do so as a teen? Wow! Babies are the new rock n ro...
I love the (i think) implied Tuesday's With Morrie angle. I could a few people finding that in poor taste as well as the whole attitude full of sexual stereotypes. I am not one of those people. As I think I've told you before a lot of your dialogue reminds me of many interactions with gay friends of mine. The "dont aspire to be accounters," section just oozes with an identifiable attitude I could swear I've participated in. Curt is less finely drawn but I think that works. He comes off as a ...
