I have to say that the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs are wonderful, and the last is very good as well. I loved this line "A walked ascent into the clouds is achieved in silence, one step at a time." It really speaks to the differences between the world that we live in and the world to which we wish we could escape. Minor diction nits I would like to note - I do not think describing rivers as coils really describes rivers as seen from the air - maybe ribbons. The world coils is used later as well to ...
